Located in the heart of the city, is Fontana del Nettuno, one of the symbols of Bologna. This marvelous fountain is dedicated to the sea god.

 Palazzo del Comune (town hall) was built in the 13th and 14th centuries and its bell tower built in (1444) displays a gorgeous carillon clock.

Church of San Petronio was built by the Free Comune. The church was initially planned to be bigger than St Peter in Rome, but the money came short and the building remained incomplete.  

 Palazzo di Re Enzo (King Enzo's Palace) was established between 1244 and 1246. It was in this place where king Enzo, fought the victorious tussle of Parma in 1248.

 The Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca is situated just outside the main city on the Colle della Guardia (Guard Hill). The structure was built in the eleventh century; it was subsequently enlarged in the fourteenth and eighteenth centuries.



 There are numerous places of sight seeing in Bologna, other than the above list. A traveler will definitely bask in the pleasure of roaming in the streets of this historical town.
