The Santa Teresa alla Kalsa is derived from an Arab term, which means elected. This church is the best example of Sicilian Baroque, which was constructed in 1686-1706. It consists of a single, airy corridor, with decorations dating back to the early 18th century.
The Santa Maria dello Spasimo church was constructed in 1506 and was then transformed into a hospital. Raphael has painted his famous piece of art, Sicilia's Spasimo to decorate this temple.
